Dr David Green is an independent environmental and safeguards specialist consultant with more than 36 years of experience working with financial institutions, government agencies in the public sector and blue chip clients in the private sector. Dr Green has broad international experience of implementing environmental resettlement and social safeguards in more than 20 countries covering a wide range of infrastructure projects. Dr Green specialises in Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Audit, Environmental Planning and Environmental Management Systems; with broad brush social and resettlement safeguards experience. He has extensive experience in capacity building, environmental health and safety, pollution control, indoor air quality, acoustics and noise control, water pollution biology, contaminated land, hazardous waste management, health and safety management and asbestos abatement. Dr Green has excellent analytical and writing skills having reported on more than 250 project sites in the past 36 years.

Dr Green has thirty years experience in environmental pollution, twenty years experience in EIA and ten years in enforcement and administration of environmental legislation with local authorities. Dr Green began his environment portfolio in Europe (1979) that has developed internationally (1990 to date) including commissions for blue chip private clients & development agencies (IBRD & ADB, ILO, EU & JICA).

Project experience embraces management of major Environmental Impact Studies and public consultation for safeguarding large scale infrastructure, including Statutory EIAs under environmental laws in many countries and the environmental evaluation of strategic planning studies. Capacity building and institutional strengthening and policy review for international agencies (IBRD and ADB).

Dr Green has extensive practitioner experience and knowledge of EIA systems, implementing environmental safeguards and useful practical familiarity with resettlement and social safeguards. Broad experience in health and safety measures, inventories of loss and enforcement. Technical assessments include chemical and biological monitoring techniques for aquatic & terrestrial environments for air quality, noise, water pollution, industrial chemicals, asbestos, dust, and other pollutants and some experience with ground based and remote sensing monitoring techniques for habitat and catchment analysis.
